Botany :

Description : Terrestrial, annual, erect herb, not rooting at nodes. Taproots white or brown. Stems rounded, solid, hairy. Stipules absent. Leaves simple, opposite, stalked, ovate, more than 3 cm long/wide, margin coarsely dentate, apex acute, base acute, pinnately-veined. Leaf sheath absent. Flowers bisexual, grouped together in a terminal head, with only tubular flowers, sessile, white or purple, sessile. Fruit an achene, pappus present.

Biology :

Reproduction by seeds.

Phenology :

Usually flowering October to March, occassionally in other months.

Ecology :

Roadsides, abandoned or fallow fields and in plantations of perennial crops.
