Botany :

Description : Terrestrial, annual, erect herb, not rooting at nodes. Taproot white or brown. Stems rounded or quadrangular, solid, glabrous. Stipules absent. Leaves alternate, trifoliolate, opposite, stalked, leaflets lanceolate or ovate, more than 2 cm long/wide, hairy, margin coarsely dentate, apex acute, base acute, pinnately-veined. Leaf sheath absent. Flowers bisexual grouped together in a terminal head, with tubular and ligulate flowers, sessile, ligulate flower white, tubular ones yellow or orange. Fruit an achene, with pappus.

Biology :

Reproduction by seeds.

Phenology :

Flowering and fruiting throughout the year.

Ecology :

B. pilosa is adapted to different environmental situations but prefers wet zones and heavy soils.

Distribution :

Pantropical, originating from S.Africa.
